Long-time Rumored Theme Park Finally Announced for Houston

For many years, Houstonians and visitors from around the world flocked to Six Flags Astroworld, an amusement park directly across the street from the legendary Astrodome. When both facilities closed, many wondered what would become of that land and the iconic Astrodome. After years of speculation and rumor, the city of Houston has finally revealed plans for the Astrodome and nearby vacant land.
“We are excited to announce today a partnership with the Walt Disney Company to bring a Disney-themed amusement park to Houston,” said the mayor.”
Plans call for the original Astroworld land to be repurposed into a Disney theme park, complete with all the iconic rides from Walt Disney World and Disneyland. The Astrodome will be transformed into the world’s largest Space Mountain, where fourteen roller coaster cars can launch simultaneously on dedicated tracks.
Groundbreaking is set for April 31, 2026 with a completion date expected around November 31, 2028.
Premier Custom Travel will have the exclusive rights to sell tickets and hotel package for the new destination. Sales will open soon.
When asked about this new partnership, PCT owner Chris Grum stated, “I’m thrilled to announce that we continue to partner with Disney to bring you magical vacations on the high seas and at their existing theme parks. I’d also like to wish everyone a happy April Fool’s Day.”
